Litigation Assistant/Paralegal
Location: Houston

Walsh Gallegos Treviño Russo Kyle P.C., a mid-size law firm with offices in Texas and New Mexico, is seeking a Legal Assistant/Paralegal for our Houston office. Candidates should possess 3-7 years of litigation experience.  Must have excellent organizational, word processing, and people skills and be able to handle multiple priorities and deadlines. Walsh Gallegos Treviño Russo & Kyle P.C., a mid-size law firm with a multi-state practice, is seeking a Legal Secretary for its Austin office to support attorneys in managing the high volume Facilities and Business practice that serves clients throughout Texas.  Duties include document collection and preservation, extensive document review of contracts, real estate and construction matters, document production tasks, and maintaining case filing and databases. Candidates must possess the skills to coordinate with teams providing assistance such as drafting correspondence, preparing documents for meetings and hearings, conferences, and heavy filing. Candidates should possess 3-7 years of experience as a Legal Secretary.  Experience with contracts, construction, real estate, and/or litigation matters and processes is a plus.  Must have excellent organizational, word processing, and professional level people skills.  Candidates must also possess a proven history of handling multiple priorities with great focus in an efficient and effective manner.  Excellent proofing, editing and writing/communication skills are a must. SPED Legal Secretary
Location: Irving

Walsh Gallegos Treviño Russo & Kyle P.C., a mid-size law firm with a multi-state practice, is seeking a Legal Secretary for its Irving office to support the high volume special education practice that serves clients throughout Texas. Our San Antonio office is currently seeking an attorney licensed in Texas 10-14 years to represent public school districts in connection with construction contracting, real estate transactions and development, public procurement, and various other contract transactions.   Strong research and writing skills are required.  Candidates with a background or prior experience in architecture, engineering, the construction industry, public bond transactions, and/or related course work are desired.  Public speaking experience and strong interpersonal skills are also preferred.

Finance Manager
Location: Austin

We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Finance and Accounting professional to join our team as Finance Manager.  This position will be based in our Austin, Texas office and will lead all aspects of the firm's accounting operations. The position reports to the Firm Administrator. 

This role will lead the following functional areas: Billing, AR/collections, Banking Relationships, Escrow and Trust Account Administration, and General Accounting.

The Finance Manager will be responsible for...

Direct activities of Finance Department staff and ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner, accounts receivable are collected promptly, and billing invoices are    prepared and sent timely, while providing leadership, mentoring and training within        the department.

Oversee the payroll process.

Manage the firm's trust account activities.

Implement and maintain required internal financial and operational controls.

Oversee firm's compliance reviews and independent auditing of benefit plans.

Prepare monthly financial reports with a strong ability to interpret the results to

Assist with development of annual budget for individual offices and firm.

Prepare financial forecasts and comparisons to budget.

Oversee/prepare monthly/quarterly reconciliations (balance sheet and profit and loss).
Develop and implement monthly closing procedures.
Prepare monthly journal entries. 

Work with outside CPA for tax returns and tax planning.

Optimize the handling of firm banking and financial institution relationships.

The successful candidate will demonstrate...

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field required; CPA (active license) and/or MBA highly preferred.

Experience in professional services accounting operations or legal industry required. Requires a minimum of 8 years accounting operations management experience, including 2 years of senior-level management experience.

Hands on experience optimizing the use of financial, accounting and associated reporting systems. Experience with Orion preferred.

Candidates must possess a high level of organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and superior communication skills. Potential candidate must have at least three (3) years of recent experience supervising professional clerical office staff.  This is not an entry level position.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for . . .

  • Recruiting, training, coordinating and supervising office support staff and workloads including secretaries, paralegals, office clerks, and receptionists, under the direction of the Personnel Manager.
  • Coordinating facilities, including supplies, interoffice moves, furniture needs, equipment and office cleanliness and upkeep with Personnel Manager.
  • Execute office goals, objectives and systems developed by Personnel Manager and Office Leader.
  • Maintain office support staff performance by coaching, counseling, and coordinating employees as well as planning, monitoring, and evaluating staff performance with Personnel Manager.
  • Maintain office efficiency and office budget by planning and implementing office systems and daily workflow with Personnel Manager and Office Leader.
  • Work with firm department heads on staff related needs and protocols.
  • Facilitate office event coordination including monthly birthday celebrations, holiday parties, lunch meetings and special events with Personnel Manager.

The position calls for an attorney who can successfully work to defend public schools and other governmental entities on issues involving special education/disability rights litigation as well as provide advice and consultation to public schools in the area of special education/disability rights.  A background in special education as well as public speaking experience and strong interpersonal skills is a plus, as is experience representing governmental entities in federal litigation.
