ATTORNEY - GENERAL EDUCATION
Location: Houston, TX

Our Houston office is expanding and seeking to add an attorney licensed in Texas for a minimum of three years to continue our work in an exciting and collaborative environment. 

 

The position involves the representation of public school districts and other educational institutions in areas of employment, governance, administrative law, and student issues, including civil rights/constitutional law. LEGAL SECRETARY - LITIGATION
Location: Rio Grande Valley (Harlingen)

We are seeking a Legal Assistant to support a high-volume litigation and administrative practice. This position supports attorneys in managing administrative and clerical work including calendar management, filing, process expense reimbursements, document collection, organization, and preservation, document review, document production including pleadings, discovery documents and general litigation support, and maintaining case filing and databases.

 

Candidates must possess the necessary skills to coordinate with the litigation team, provide assistance such as e-filing, docketing, scheduling, drafting correspondence, and preparing documents or notebooks for case meetings and hearings. Candidates should possess 3-5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant. Extensive experience in litigation matters is a plus. Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. M-F.

 

Candidates must have excellent communication, organizational, word processing, and people skills, as well as the ability to handle multiple priorities with great focus in an efficient and effective manner. Excellent proofing, editing, and writing skills are a must, as well as high proficiency in Nitro, Adobe, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Legal Assistant/Paralegal

Walsh Gallegos Treviño Kyle & Robinson P.C., a law firm with offices in Texas and New Mexico devoted to serving public education through representation of school districts, charter schools and other governmental entities.  Working in partnership with leaders in public education since 1983, we strive to make a difference in the boardroom, the courtroom and, most importantly, the classroom.

We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Legal Assistant/Paralegal in our Houston office to support our Special Education practice. This position supports attorneys in managing administrative/clerical work and litigation support. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to calendar management; assisting with the preparation, filing and services of pleadings; processing expense reimbursements; coordinating the collection, organization, review and production of documents; maintaining case filing and databases; and client communications.

 

Candidates should possess 3+ years of substantive experience as a paralegal or legal assistant. Experience in litigation support is a plus. Hours are 8:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. M-F. 

 

Candidates must have excellent communication, organizational, word processing, and people skills. Excellent proofing, editing, and writing skills are a must, as well as high proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Attention to detail and excellent research and writing skills are required. Public speaking experience, strong interpersonal skills, IDEA due process proceeding and litigation experience, State and OCR Complaint experience, and experience with school districts or other governmental entities are preferred. A background in special education or education is a plus, as is experience representing governmental entities in federal litigation.
