Esperanza Luján was born and raised in New Mexico, where her mother was an elementary teacher for the Albuquerque Public Schools for over 35 years. Esperanza is dedicated to advocating for public school districts that serve the students of New Mexico.
Esperanza earned her law degree from the University of New Mexico School of Law and earned a Master’s in Public Affairs from Princeton University School of Public & International Affairs, as well as a Bachelor of Arts from Occidental College. Prior to joining Walsh Gallegos, Esperanza worked as an attorney with the New Mexico Law Offices of the Public Defender and with the Office of the Federal Public Defender. During that time, she represented numerous indigent clients in state and federal court, with an aim toward safeguarding her client’s constitutional rights. Esperanza has dedicated her career to public service and is passionate about improving the lives and well-being of all New Mexicans.
