NEW MEXICO SPECIAL EDUCATION PROCEDURES

The Walsh Gallegos Special Education Procedures Handbook is designed to assist New Mexico school districts in meeting the requirements necessary to receive IDEA-B funding.

The Handbook is organized into three columns:  (1) the federal regulations in chronological order; (2) the relevant New Mexico rules and statutes aligned to the federal regulations; and (3) the procedures (including hyperlinked resources) aligned to federal regulations and New Mexico rules and statutes.

The three columns are designed for easy daily use by school personnel and other stakeholders and easy updating.  The procedures contain references to OSEP letters, U.S. Department of Education and PED guidance with hyperlinks to many of the referenced guidance documents.  The procedures help localize the law to the daily activities of a district, special education department and classroom.
